JORDI BERNÀCER

Conductor


Born in 1976 in Alcoy (Spain), where he began to study music at the age of six, graduating in flute at the “Joaquín Rodrigo” Conservatory in Valencia at eighteen. He has also studied composition, musicology, choir and orchestral conducting. In Vienna he attended to an international course of conducting with Erwin Acél at the Universtiy of Music, studying at the Vienna Conservatory (2000-2004) with Prof. Georg Mark and GMD Reinhard Schwarz, concluding his studies with the much coveted honors degree “Auszeichnung”.


In 1997 he gets the Verein Wiener Musikseminar Conducting Prize. In 2004 he was selected to conduct in the “Beethoven Workshop” with Daniel Barenboim in the Vienna Musikverein, conducting the Vienna Conservatory Orchestra. The same year he was appointed second conductor of the Cor de la Generalitat Valencia (Spain). He was assistant of Lorin Maazel, Georges Prêtre, Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev and Sir Andrew Davies among others.
He has conducted operas like “Manon” at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía (Valencia), “Carmen” at the Teatre Wielki (Poland), the world premiére of “Nûr” of Marco Taralli at the Festival della Valle d’Itria (Italy), “El rey que rabió” of Chapí at the Festival Internacional de Peralada (Spain), “El gato con botas” of Montsalvatge at the Palacio Euskalduna (Bilbao) and “The Beggar’s Opera” of Britten at the Castleton Festival in Virginia (USA) conducting also a concert with the Festival Orchestra sharing podium with Mto. Maazel.
Recent and future engagements includes concerts with the Kammerochester Berlin, Los Angeles Opera, Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de España, Orquesta Sinfónica Radio Televisión Española, Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, Orquesta de Euskadi, Orquesta Sinfónica de Bilbao, Orquesta de Valencia, Camerata Music Wien, Slovak Radio Sympony Orchestra, Prague Chamber Orchestra, etc.
He has been invited by some of the main international halls like Theâtre du Châtelet (Paris), San Francisco Opera, Abu Dhabi Classics, Teatro Carlo Felice (Genova) and Fondanzione Pergolesi-Spontini (Italy).
His performances have been recorded by Radio Nacional de España (RNE), RAI (Italy) and Abu Dhabi Classics FM and he made recordings for the labels “Verso” and “La llum de les imatges”.
